Customized Mentoring Program Development

Every district's mentoring needs look different. That's why INTC works directly with districts, schools, and organizations to build mentoring programs that fit your teachers, your resources, and your goals.

We start with the foundations: what mentoring actually looks like in practice, and what mentors need to do it well. That includes defining mentor roles and responsibilities clearly, so mentors and administrators are aligned on expectations from day one. Foundational strategies also include communication skills training, so mentors can have real conversations with new teachers instead of one-directional check-ins. And all of our custom programs ground the work in adult learning theory, so the approach matches how adults actually grow and change in a profession.

We know that a strong mentoring program also depends on trust. We help districts build that trust into their programs from the start by creating the conditions where new teachers feel safe sharing what's working and what isn't. This approach allows mentors to respond to real challenges as they come up, not just the ones that are easy to plan for.

Whether you're building a mentoring program from the ground up or refining one that's already in place, INTC can help. Reach out at intc@illinois.edu to work with us.
